Meet the team
I graduated in 1997 and have worked at Armour Vet Group ever since, becoming a partner in 1999. During this time I have seen the business grow from a 2 vet to a 6 vet practice. I have a keen interest in dairy cow fertility and mastitis investigation, however being part of a mixed practice also allows me to continue my interests in small animal surgery. In my spare time I run a small farm which consists of a flock of pedigree Blue Faced Leicesters and some pedigree Beef Shorthorn cows. Any other spare time is spent with my wife and 4 kids.
I graduated in 1999 and have worked in Ayrshire ever since. I began work at Armour Vet Group in 2006 and became a partner in 2008. I enjoy all aspects of my job but especially enjoy dairy cow nutrition and lameness issues in cows. Outwith work I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 children. I also have a small herd of pedigree Blonde cattle which I enjoy showing and also doing some judging when asked. Golfing is a past-time of mine when time allows, playing locally at Ballochmyle.
I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in July 2008 and have been with the practice since then. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine and especially enjoy the wide variety that mixed practice brings. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and wee girl, socialising with friends and walking the dog in the Ayrshire countryside.
Petra Ronnegard Hewitt
I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 1997. I started my veterinary career in mixed practice in Dumfries which I really enjoyed. I then moved on to work in a small animal practice to pursue my interest in small animal surgery. I have worked in several small animal practices south and north of the border, gaining invaluable experience. I joined Armour Vet Group in 2014. I have a keen interest in arthritis and pain control. I am open minded and believe that veterinary medicine together with complementary medicine has a synergistic effect on our pet’s treatment. I have practiced veterinary acupuncture since 2000. When I am not working as a vet, I am a mum of 4! I enjoy swimming and gardening - I love flowers and run a wee craft business, mainly during the winter months.
I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in July 2011 and have spent most of my career in farm animal practice. I joined Armour Vet Group in April 2018 and am now enjoying the variety of different work that is involved in working in a mixed practice. When I’m not in work I enjoy walking my with my dog Dot, travelling and socialising with friends.
I joined Armour Vet Group in August 2018, having worked in several mixed practices throughout the UK. I have a keen interest in farm animal medicine and surgery but enjoy all aspects of veterinary life. In my spare time I play hockey for a local Ayrshire team and spend most evenings walking my 2 Labradors.
I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in July 2019 and started work at Armour Vet Group soon after this. I am really enjoying all aspects of my veterinary career so far and have settled in well to life in Ayrshire. Out with work I enjoy running, spending time with friends and I am also a keen cook when time allows.
I have worked at Armour Vet Group since qualifying as a vet nurse in summer 2017. I enjoy all aspects of my job but am particularly interested in weight management of pets and in-patient intensive care. I am a keen member of Young Farmers in my time off and also enjoy going to the gym, spending time with friends and taking care of my many animals at home.
I joined Armour Vet Group in 2014. I consider myself very fortunate to be able to say I enjoy all aspects of my job, but have a specific interest in farm health planning and data analysis. I have been involved in farming all my life and enjoy being out on farm working with our clients and their animals. Out with work I enjoy travelling, a variety of sports, coach hockey and ski instruct when time allows during the winter.
I have been with the practice since it first opened in 1979. I enjoy going to the theatre, concerts and TV show filmings. Among my favourites are John Barrowman and Barry Manilow and I often travel as far as London to see them perform.
