In order to take your pet abroad without the need for quarantine there are certain rules that must be adhered to. These rules apply to all pet dogs, cats and ferrets.
For EU countries, all pets must be micro-chipped and then subsequently vaccinated against Rabies. There is then a 21 day waiting period before re-entry into the UK. An official EU Pet Passport will be issued. The pet must travel with an approved transport company on an authorised route. Tapeworm treatment for dogs is also required 1-5 days before re-entry into the UK. This treatment must be administered by a vet.
Please be aware these rules apply to EU countries only. Please click the link below for further information on Non- EU countries. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure their pet meets all requirements of the destination country and that all documentation is correct before re-entry into the UK. http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/pets/travel/pets/
